Richard Edkins and Karen Bristoll.

Brief/
-
Based around a trip they conducted where they travelled from Birmingham to Beijing on nothing other than public transport create promotional material for a photographic exhibition that was being held to showcase the film and photographs taken on the trip.

Richard and Karen describe Environments as:

"Environments explores themes of identity, histories, space and time.
Recording and celebrating ‘the every day’.
Environments is influenced by folk traditions (whereby stories are passed down from generation to generation, people to people, through storytelling, song, pictorially, arts/ crafts…) and the grass roots ‘indymedia’ movements (that proclaim ‘don’t hate the media, become the media’)"

Outcome/
-
Logotype, symbols, tickets and posters in collaboration with Ryan Killeen. The design was heavily influenced by wayfinding information graphics that would be, relatively, consistent between each countries public transport centres: such as bus stations. The deep-red/yellow/black/white colour palette takes its theme from the Chinese destination.
