O’Neill’s Broad Street

Brief/
-
O’Neill’s pub on Broad Street was looking to establish itself as a live music venue and attract new audiences by offering genre specific music nights. The brief here was to create two posters for a series of weekly jazz nights.

Outcome/
-
I wanted the look of the posters to reflect the moody, smoking dark lit idea of old jazz clubs without using photography and being literal. I drew inspiration form the minimalist work of Josef Muller-Brockmann’s poster series for the Zurich Opera House deconstructing elements that would be found within such jazz clubs and presenting cleanly and not at all literally.
